Hillbillies, Watch Me While I Sleep
in three movements
movement 1. buy!buy!buy!
movement 2. mis maleantes
movement 3. lose!lose!lose!
made in the Fall of 2020 at the deep end of adult poverty, and a slew of grant rejections. Hillbillies, Watch Me While I Sleep is more invitation, less intimidation. As the title insinuates, all are invited to observe this rest, as the protagonist has nothing left. Never touching the ground, the performance is an uncomfortable balancing act, like living through this health and economic free fall. A knee touches the ground out of exhaustion, not for a break. Grating sound, with a harrowed experience, all site specifically located next to a pile of trash. Another discarded story; what a waste.
